Not only is the future multiple, but also, most importantly, it is dynamic. How large groups of people respond to social, political, and economic challenges determines the variety of possible futures. The possibility of an egalitarian, democratic postcapitalism is only one of those possibilities. It’s typically the only desirable one, and it’s also the one that will take the most effort. Possibility precedes choice, which precedes action.
