Founded in 2011, the Noun Project is a platform for designers to share, download, and use high-quality icons. These icons can be used in any context but are commonly adapted for use in user-interface design. Designed by contributors from around the world, they are free for download and unlimited use. The “free” account model allows users access to the full collection of more than 1 million vector icons but with the caveat that users must give credit to the icon’s designer each time it is used. With a paid subscription, a member gets “perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide right to use each icon you download as many times as you wish and in any medium, without having to credit the icon’s creator.”[i]
